Staff writer Zain Haidar reports:
Commuters who usually start their days with a coffee run or a doughnut stop got off on a more pious note Wednesday at an Oak Cliff train station.
Pastor Peter McNabb and volunteers from his church marked the beginning of Lent by offering free bottles of water, chocolates and “Ashes to Go” to DART riders from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. at the Hampton Station.
“It’s part of a national movement: giving the imposition of the ashes to people at train stations.” said McNabb, who brought the idea to Wheatland United Methodist Church last year.
